Historical 'Combat Machette'

Italian 'Beidana' Not sure if this should be on the knife forum or this one?

Much like the czech dussack on the other thread this was another peasants tool pushed into service as a weapon in the medieval period. For the guys who wonder how their heavy machetes will go in the zombie apocalypse, probably pretty well.:)

Modern example below 24" overall length, weight 2.2lbs. Another museum example is 21" overall and weighs 1.6lbs.

Painting from the 13th century- if knights in chainmail used them, must have been effective, on monks at least!

It looks like he needs a second swing, at the unarmed monk, from behind.
