I am curious if anyone knows of a general reference guide/link, to good information on historical knives? I'm not looking for info on any specific time period, or geographical location, just basically a history of knives in general, from all over, and all time periods.

I did numerous searches, and did find some information, but not really what i was looking for. I have alot of ideas for new builds and with the weather finally breaking , i will be able to complete them. Just looking for a little historical inspiration.

thanks
andrew

Bowies, Big Knives, And The Best Of Battle Blades by Bill Bagwell
Bowie and Big Knife Fighting System by Dwight McLemore

all 3 for $125, on amazon, is this a good buy?

I like "Bowie Knives and Bayonets of the Ben Palmer Collection" by Palmer, Moran and Phillips. There are many find designes and a lot of knowledge in this text.

That's about the right price and all excellent reading

The Bowie Knife: Unsheathing an American Legend by Norm Flayderman has alot of pictures if you are interested in bowie's.

Dwight's book has alot of drawings that are worth the price of admission. But deals with use not knves so much in general some historical info but mostly exercise's and drills for combat

Bagwell's book is a compulation of S.O.F. articles and there is alot of info there with pics of his knives ... Good read

All are
