Historical knives

Great Axe site. I had an old axe head like the one in the botom left corner of the icon for trade axes william r fitsgerald.

I gave it to a axe collector.

I did notice that the way they are described being made with the fold over method and the tendancy to split on the edge join was overcome in the one I had by laping the joint higher up the blade so that the cutting edge was not at the joint.

Great site I could just get inspired to make one. I have been saying that for a couple of years but the site has a good how to make section worth a look if nothing elase. It looks much easyer than drifting eyes like I have done in the past.

Hey Reg, do that! My Ellery collection is suffering from being too familiar with itself, need some new blood. :D I spent a little time in the clasp knife article, one of these days I'm going to have to try my hand at a friction folder.

Good site, thanks.

Thanks Ripper. If I'm not mistaken, Wild Rose Trading posted that site the other day when I showed my Roach Belly.

It is a good site,

Darn if you're not right Don, Chuck did post that link. My long time companion (14yrs.) and hero, my dog Ripper, died the other day and I've been in kinda of daze. Thanks for pointing it out. I like that Roach belly you made.
Regards,
Greg

Sorry to hear about the dog. With us, our dog is as much a member of the family as the kids. :(

Thanks Don, he meant pretty much the same to us.

Dave I am just about to go have another look. At the site. Purhaps if you put your collection together they will mate faster than i get around to it.

Joking aside I have wanted to make one of those axes ever since the axe head was illustrated in another book as being around that vintage. I kicked myself for giving it away but it went to a good home and i am pleased I did give it away to a nice bloke and genuine collector. Where are the trip picks you must have got some of local knives.

Back to the site stay happy Reg.
