History of Case Black Shield (Trapper)

I have many Case Trappers. I have one of the White Sparxx with the red shield and lately I have a hankering for getting one of the same with the Black oval shields with the little silver dots on it.

I'm just curious what that is about. Are these a limited run sponsored by a cutlery store or was this a thing Case offered for a while or what ?

The Black shield one arrived yesterday.
Removed Spay blade. Carried today and enjoyed it !
