history of sword making book?

Can anybody recommend a book on the history/and or a discussion on medieval sword making? I'm getting more and more curious about making swords... and I wanna get a feel for the how they were done in the day. Looking forward to seeing what you recommend!

I should add that I'm mostly interested in Western swordsmithing...

I've been looking for the same. You'll have better luck just asking people that know. Other than that be prepared to start a library. No one book will teach you. A have a little collection started too. Blacksmith books will help with technique and little tricks. The book of the sword is a good collection of designs through the ages. Boring as crap though. Sword smithing is a little bit of lotS of skills. And some luck. Try Norse swords (as I am) they're a little crude and most have barely any hilt.
