History on my Ka-Bar?

My father-in-law just gave me his knife that he used in the Navy from 1950-1954. It has U.S.N. on the sheath. It looks just like the Ka-Bar knives that you can purchase today. Is this the exact same knife that is available today? Does it have the same steel?

If it is the standard model with the leather handle then yes it is most likely 1095 and they still use that steel to this day.
