Hitachi Super Blue

It's supposed to be SUPER easy to sharpen. I heard one guy accidentally dropped his Super Blue knife on a sharpening stone, and when he picked it up he sliced the space-time continuum wide open.

I didn't actually hear that, in case anyone took that seriously.

That would be better than free wifi! I think if you look at it sideways, it will cut your corneas.

When consumed with a banana, it provides 100% of your RDA of potassium.

Super blue is an amazing steel. Very easy to sharpen and takes an absolutely insane edge.

Its made from iron sand that's only found in Japan. I have no idea how or if that helps in regard to metallurgy but its a neat fact.

I guess it must have some effect because as someone who prefers carbon steels and has used a lot of them, super blue is very impressive.

My experience with Super Blue has been extremely positive so far. In particular, I give it high marks for taking and holding a very fine edge for notably longer than other steels.

I've read that a lot of the superior nature of this steel comes from a lack of impurities, compared to other similar carbon examples from the west.

Yes, that is one of the key features. Spec says Aogami Super can have up to 0.004% Sulfur, while W2 has 0.025%...
