Hitachi White

Keith, never heard of it. Goggle doesn't come up with anything. Ken Onion might be the guy to ask. He's knowledgeable on all those Unobtainium steels :)
 
Murray Carter would know........he uses the White and Blue for most of his laminated knives.
 
Probably from Hitachi. Not trying to be a wise acre either. I think you can only get it in Japan.
 
This steel might be sold, only to knife makers/companies who have ties to the Japanese cutlery markets. Try gettting any of Hatachi's ZDP-189 steel bar shipped to the U.S. market. I was told by the Hatachi rep. that they don't or won't ship this steel outside the U.S. due to the difficult heat treating process and all the information on this steel is in the Japanese lauguage only. They would not even let the cat out of the bag on the full list of materials which make up the steel.
