Sooo we found some fatwood, but had to battle with some ( millions) of ants to get it.

so in an effort to distract them while the ESEE 5 and ESEE 4 harvested fatwood, i threw a bigger any into the mix to even the fight

Looks great! Where did you guys go (I'm a local!)? I am really jealous as I never find fatwood that easy in the sandhills, I have to dig/chop for mine usually. Hopefully some time I can meet up with you guys.

Thanks for sharing.

No problem . We want to get more of us together here for bush trips and practicing our bushcraft skills.Gaurdian A1 is a great guy, and very knowledgeable in bush craft. We had a great time swapping stories and ideas.
Some of the pics are in Whitemud creek in the river valley , and the other ones in the sandy areas are near Fort. Sask. We had a fun time looking for fatwood and scouting around. G-A1 gave me some great tips on what to look for. Today's weather was outstanding. A splendid day it was in the woods.
Being a recently new Esee owner , I can attest to what great knives they make in the bush. Any of them. Truly outstanding workhorses. I plan on getting an Esee 5 to help me pry stumps apart besides the use of an axe. The Esee 3 I just got , makes an outstanding bushcraft knife for fine work.
It was awesome getting out there , and putting steel to wood ! ;)

Great pictures, looks like an awesome are to hike in. That picture of the squirrel is really cool.

I'm also also pretty much local, we should have an Edmonton area get together sometime.

The scenery looks really nice, i never would have guessed that was near Edmonton let alone in Edmonton.

Me too. I've driven past it a hundred times , and thought it would be a mess ,or not really " woodsy" area for around here , but I was wrong. Yeah, there are some people jogging, walking dogs and stuff, but there are plenty of areas that you can get away from it. It is closed off and checked after dark , but for a day hike and some bushcraft practice close to home...great. No open fires unfortunately. Just keep that bowie in you're bag till you're out of sheeple sight. I wore an Esee-4 out open , and no one batted an eye. Mixed forest ( deciduous and coniferous) all in that area.
( PM me if you want to connect.)

Tons of areas around here that one can pretend is outside the city- one of the reasons that I can stand it here. Nothing like having bears, deer, moose wander in; and have coyotes, squirrels and rabbits living literally in my back yard at times.

I'm done school at the end of the month so maybe one of those days.

I don't have an ESEE, but a pair of Salaverria nessmuks and a Koyote Leuko to add (plus one or two other knives).

Haha right on man, we arrent all pure ESEE guys....well, i am but hey! I hear you about almost not being able to stand it here...i was raised in the wilderness in northern B.C. and have lived there all my life till now....so this place is brutal and alien to me...
