Well, I'll throw up some pics for those of you who like super tough, rugged, heavy duty folders. These are pics of the Spyderco Mini-Manix next to the HK 14205. The HK 14205 was a knife made by Benchmade for Heckler & Koch. They are some of the nicest folders out there for the money.
Quick Overview: Both the Mini-Manix and the Hk 14205 are built to take abuse.
The Spyderco Mini-Manix has a very large, strong lock back design that is rock solid. The ergos of the knife are very good with it's G10 scales, well designed handle shape, and unique choil design. The knife also comes with an ambidextrous, tip up tip down pocket clip. It's full flat ground CPM-S30V leaf shaped blade comes very sharp and ready for work. The Spydie is truly a folder you could rely on even in situations that call for a fixed blade. If you have never held a Mini-Manix or Manix in your hand you can't fully appreciate their rugged design and "Bank Vault" feel in the hand. If the Mini-Manix or Manix have a drawback, it would be that they have a rather large outline, and take up a lot of room in the pocket. It's a knife that can be cumbersome to quickly deploy.
The HK 14205 is another extremely rugged and well built knife. It features Benchmade's legendary Axis-lock and the action and lock up on this knife are silky smooth. The sabre ground blade has a 3/4 length unsharpened top swedge as well as a nice thumb ramp with well done jimping that is very comfortable. Blade steel is 154CM and the knives come from the factory screaming sharp! Handle ergos, nice G10 scales, sturdy open frame design and an ambidextrous tip up pocket clip make the Hk 14205 a very well rounded package. Another nice thing about the HK over the Mini-Manix is that it's outline isn't as big, and it is much quicker to deploy from the pocket than the Spyderco Mini-Manix.
In short, if you are looking for a bomb-proof folder to back up your fixed blade, or if you are just looking for an excellent folder that you can count on day in and day out even in the rough stuff, these two fill the bill!
I know I'm not much of a knife reviewer, but I hope some of you like it
