The only reason I am asking/looking at HK blades at this time is as a nice accessory for an HK pistol, etc.

My basic research shows that they have some high end models and some cheaper ones as well. I also read Benchmade partnered with them on a blade.

I am more interested in the Ascender models (inexpensive first jump). The Snody's look pretty cool as well.

Anyone have any insight, own any, etc??? Thanks!

Not sure about all of them but HK is known for quality and I don't think they would put their name on it if it weren't pretty darn good.

That being said, the AXIS lock knives made by Benchmade are some of the best knives Benchmade makes. They seem to be exceptionally smooth with great fit and finish. Definitely can't go wrong with the AXIS lock versions.

I have only handled a couple of them, but was not disappointed in either. I am also pretty sure that they are all made by Benchmade, and it is very hard to by a Benchmade and not get a great knife. I would guess that the same thing is true of all the HK models.

I think they are either coming out with or already have come out with an OTF auto under the HK name that is only around $200. That is a pretty good price on a D/A OTF, so I am thinking about checking one of those out, if i can find one that is.

Thanks guys! Yep...I "assumed" they may have sublet the builds through Benchmade. I will likely buy an inexpensive one first to give it a go and then go from there.

As it stands, my higher end knives...if you call them that...are SOG's. That is what I collect now. I want to incorporate Benchmade in next. The HK's would be a nice subplot to the line ;).

That's excellent point. You need to buy HK knife and Benchmade so you can compeare their quality and determ weather HK knife is made by Benchmade. Therefore you have not bought excessive knife at all... I like way you think, man!

This HK knife is made by Boker: http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=BOHK01 as is a few variants and this one: http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=BOHK150

The others are made by Benchmade, like this one: http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=BMHK14455SBT

The only one I've owned was this one: http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=BMHK14700P -- I thought it and the other HK knives I've handled were on par with all Benchmades and seemed to represent a little better value for the money.

Thank you for the insight! I did not see the models you presented yet, so that was also cool.

I own the HK14205 and HK14210 both made by Benchmade, and designed by Mike Snody. I bought them when my Kershaw Ti ZDP-189 Mini-Cyclone blew a rod and had to go back to the Kershaw mothership. Mind you, I've carried the Kershaw for 2 years. I have the Kershaw back now but it has not displaced the HK. I think the HK14205/14210 is one of the best production knives you can buy. Strong as an ox and as smooth as a Rolex. The 14210 has a slight recurve. I never owned a recurve before; spent one day using it in the field and simply said WOW! Unfortunately, I now pretty much only carry fixed blades and have been thinking about selling my HK's. They deserve to be used and I have new ones and used ones - way too many!

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting twist on how you ended up getting the blades and story friend. Does the blade compliment a matching HK by any chance??? :D

Pretty neat designs. Like the HK's....the prices on the US made blades reflect the high end niche of the product. If Benchmade is behind the grinder, I feel pretty comfortable buying one with sight only seen via the web.
