I'm still deciding whether or not to put either of the two duraluminum tail caps on a green canvas micarta'd Randall 1-7 or not. I'll be going with the nickel finish guards (will look like what the Cold Steel is trying to copy)
Does anyone have pics of either the crows beak or the standard tail cap? Thanks!

Put a cap on it what ever You choose. Had stag with no cap and didnt like it. now waiting on two new randall with micarta and brass but caps.

GB,

If you're going with the NS hilt, I'd recommend the NS pommel (end cap) as well...yes, 'Crowsbeak' caps do look kinda cool, but I've found they can also limit manuverability as well, especially on smaller RMK models...

As far as Brass pommels go, they do look 'cool', but they also shift the center of balance waaay back, so should probably only be used on longer/larger blades whereby you're trying to offset the blade weight to bring a neutral balance to the knife...

I've been very blessed to have acquired many RMK's in various configurations over the years, and the above comments are based on my observations to date...

As always, YMMV ;)

I may be mistaken, but I believe brass and nickel silver have nearly identical weights per cubic foot.....

Nickel Silver is about 527 pounds per cubic foot and Brass is about 534.

Given the small amount present in a butt cap, but should weigh about the same.

Good luck with your order GB........
