Then why do they offer it for a fee of $70, which I do not consider minimal?Personally I think that request is a bit much. I think the warranty model is based on replacing damage to the blade over a lifecycle of use. Switching back and forth between blade types for a minimal fee seems like a losing deal for BM.
How much does that average BM knife cost? And how much of that cost is the blade? $70 for a BM blade seems about right.. but I personally would never just let people buy whatever blades they want. It would be for warranty issues or wear-out.Then why do they offer it for a fee of $70, which I do not consider minimal?
I believe they’ve been discontinued.They're like $100 new.
A few years back, I sent in a Stryker with a tanto blade and got them to replace it with a drop point blade. This was back when blade replacement was only about $30.I've never heard of Benchmade allowing you to switch the blade style on your knife when you send it in for work. As far as I know, they'll only replace it with the same blade style you purchased it with.
They'll probably tell you to buy a clip point version if you want a clip point, and I think that's perfectly reasonable for them to do.
