Does anyone have any personal experience with these larger hoback fixed blades? I’m ok with the 3v and I just need something for different outdoor work, splitting wood, brush clearing, etc. or would I be better off with a busse or swamp rat?

I don't know much about Hoback other than that it came out that many of their models are not American made as once advertised, but in fact made in China. Busse and Swamp rat are American, I'd go that route.

I have The Path, a Hoback machete with an 18 inch blade made out of AEB-L. It is very sharp and quite durable. It is listed as discontinued but was one of the USA made models, unlike some other Hoback models.

Correction: my machete is “The Way”, a machete model based on the Choppa. “The Path” is similar, but without a sharp point and with a 12 degree downward angled blade.

I just can't stomach anything from Hoback and wish he would go out of business myself. I really don't like being one of "those guys", but you just don't do what he did.
