Hay Guys,
I got a good sized piece of CPM REX 121 a couple months ago from Aldo (NJsteelbaron) I dont know how much he has now as he only had a sample piece. I build this knife a month or two ago, just now getting to the pics and vids, lol. I sent this off to Aldo and Pete Bruno for some testing and I just let them have it. They have a vid on their facebook page of chopping a 16 penny nail in half I went out and abused it and broke a bit of the tip off by sticking it in a tree and prying it sideways real quick. Im impressed with this stuff, as only a little portion of the tip broke and the tip was very pointy! I re-profiled the tip a little stouter and tried again with no breaking. I took a couple of pics for a short WIP

I didnt get as many pics as I would have liked because I was cussing at the steel trying to cut it into a profile! It will not cut with a bandsaw annealed. It will also not cut if it gets red hot.

I found the best way to cut it was to score it with a cut off wheel and break it with a hammer

rex121 is a great cutter, but prying? Not surprised it broke the tip.. the stuff is brittle.. edge holding, not chopping steel :D

That knife looks great... And like 1shot, what are the specs?? Thanks! Oh and will you be offering these in rex with a slicey grind? Thnx much!

That is a great looking knife you have there.

I have a couple of the mules made by Farid and I have been surprised by this steels thougness given the Rc of ~69. It has seen a drop onto a tiled floor only missing a very small piece from the tip and has been treated rather badly in general with little to moan about.

Cool video, Jake.

Interesting that it hardens even more during temper.

Honestly, the stuff scares me. ;)

Nothing in hand except for in the vids. It is a 4.25" handle and 4" blade. Fairly small fixed blade. It was fun to sharpen!

I may do a couple one offs in this steel, but it will deff be from a waterjet batch! way to much time in profiling them to make it worth while to make more than one, if not.

Great looking knife. I could use that as an EDC doing chores around the house. Look forward to seeing more.

That looks great, CPM REX 121 is cool stuff. If you don't mind could you tell me what you are using for screws?

Awesome stuff!

Thanks, Matt

Nice knife Jake. :D

Do you think the effort to make it in Rex 121 is worth the outcome?
