Anyone have experience with the Hoback UHEP knives? I’ve got a regular A8, but was thinking about ordering a Kwaiback UHEP, but wanted to hear some opinions about the quality and feel of the UHEP versions and the standard.

Thanks

Hey. Isn’t UHEP just a marketing term that universally fits all his knives? I have three different versions of the Kwaiback, an A-8, a Husky Fallout, and a Stallion.

My understanding is that they all follow Jake’s UHEP standard of quality and manufacturing. I could definitely be wrong about this.

Now I’m curious about it. I’m planning to attend the Blade Show in Portland this week and I’ll ask them for clarification if they have a booth.

I was just wondering because monkey edge has A8 slimlines that are titled UHEP and they’re 400.00 but DLT trading and BladeHQ sell A8s that don’t have UHEP in the title for 595 and that had me questioning the difference. I thought I read somewhere that the UHEP knives have it engraved on the inside the handle.

Gotcha. I’ll look at them on Friday and let you know if there’s a noticeable difference.

I think Hobacks are under-appreciated. But, they do cost a lot.

I sold a UHEP Kwaiback CF at right around 50% off a couple years ago. Spartan seems to have the same issue, at least with folders.

So are there three different levels of Hoback knives then? Customs, Mid Techs, and then UHEP? Monkey Edge sells a UHEP kwaiback for 425 and a UHEP A8 slimline for 400, while DLT Trading and others sell the A8 for 600 and the Kwaiback for 700, but there’s no mention of UHEP in the descriptions of those knives.

Thanks

There were none at the show but as you found out from your email to Hoback they are all UHEP and it’s just a marketing term describing their manufacturing process.

Some retailers choose to us the term UHEP while others don’t. But all the knives are UHEP. That comes directly from Hoback.

Anyway, it was fun looking into it.

Well if you check Country Of Origin page on Hoback Knives website, the OG KWAIBACK’s MK.1-MK.5 made in USA and A8 SLIMLINE made in both USA & CHINA and KWAIBACK MK.6 made in CHINA....so the cheaper ones are probably from CHINA?
