Received a uhep Kwaiback today that bites me when closed, it is getting returned, blade rests so close to the spine when closed I cut myself 3 times just fondling it. Other than this I liked it a lot. Anyone else have experience? Is this the standard or did I get a lemon?
Anyone have any experience with the A15 Uhep having the same issue? Like the look, but don’t want to give it a shot if it has the same potential issue.
Thanks everyone!

I have an a15, and carry it everywhere with no issue.

Are you saying the edge, in the closed position is exposed on the back side of the handle and is cutting you? Are you sticking your finger in between the scales to touch the edge?
A picture would help.

As far as the a15, prepare for a large beefy knife. It isn't for the faint of heart. If you count the grams of every item you carry and feel a 5 pack of Wrigley's winter fresh gum could be lighter, it isn't for you

If you like a little heft and don't mind how high it rides in the pocket, it is a fantastic knife.

Yes the edge is exposed enough so that When I have the knife in my hand or grab it from my pocket that I can cut myself while closed. Not trying to get my fingers between the scales on purpose but that’s exactly what happens just as I was handling the knife closed several times. I’m not good at pics by any means but I will give it a shot later today if I can.

Nick Shabazz said the same thing in his review, but, I cannot get my uhep Kwaiback to bite me no matter what I do. I don't think he is lying so something must be different. Either our knives or our hands, I don't know. I do love the Kwaiback and carry it without worry and have never had it bite me.

If you have a depth micrometer, measure the least amount of recess from the handle to the cutting edge. I'll do the same and we can compare results.

EDIT- Even calipers will work for this measurement.

Most people don't have either calipers or micrometers, but I have a 12" mitutoyo sitting 4 feet away lol I keep more at work obviously but I do keep certain things at home.

The cutting edge recess on my uhep Kwaiback ranges from .0665 inches nearest the pivot to about .0755 inches nearest the tip.

I am curious if yours is less or about the same.

I can’t seem to get a good pic, I’m horrible at it and don’t have calipers. Emailed Hoback Knives because if it didn’t cut me I would call it about perfect.

Just send it in to them, they will take care of you. The tip on my Kwaiback is very precisely fit into the handle and I guess someone could cut themselves if they tried, it doesn't bother me though.

My biggest question is does it cut you when you normally use it? Or only when you "fondle" it? I suppose any knives could cut you if all you do is fondle them:confused: No idea here...

Cool I emailed them. Fondle may not be the right word, I grabbed it and let it slide down in my hand until it was in a grip to flip. I admit I’m a fat guy with chubby hands, but not anything abnormal. If I can handle it to open it without slicing myself to bits I would be very happy with this knife.

I think it is something with your knife because I'm fat too and I cannot get mine to cut me short of stuffing the tip of my pinkey between the scales.
