A co-worker asked me to help identify this knife. It has no markings of any type on it, zip, zlich, nada, nothing. Guard has a flat head screwdrive shaped into it, 7 inch blade

I've google searched like crazy and cant find anything like it, they are either black blade, or the spine serrations are different.....are knock-offs of this common??

May be a fake but most comments on the fake claim they are very thin and this thing is at least .25 at its thickest point, and it has a shallow blood groove that I havent seen on the fakes. the screwdriver tip on the guard is also throwing me off

I had one years back, alternating single scallops for serrations, round eye logo stamped in guard, black anodized pommel, no lanyard hole, no blood groove, no screwdriver tip. Can't tell from the pic, how long is that blade?

Thanks, Zombie, tons of info that I'll pass on.

Bead-blasted matte looking finish to blade and pommel, lashing holes in guard and screwdriver tip, blade is 7 inches

The blade is too long compared to the Hobbit. Seems like a none too exact copy of the Al Mar model that had a 7" blade, but none of the other features you listed.

Thanks guys, I assumed it was a import. Fit and finish isnt bad at all, balance is good, whoever had it before him did an awful job trying to sharpen it.

Some body who knows spyderco well could elaborate more, but I recall seeing something about the warrior prototype was made by another knifemaker. Looks alot like the pictures of that if my pea brain remembers correctly.

I can't tell if it's genuine or not but the original was not a Spyderco. The Hobbit Warrior was one of the fixed blade patterns made by REKAT around the turn of the decade. REKAT made very high quality knives. You can probably judge whether or not yours is genuine by the overall quality.

Hi Choque,

The person that would know the most is Bob Taylor. I don't know that he frequents this forum, but he does occasionally visit the Spyderco site forum. You might considering posting there.

I'll post a link.

Definatly looks like an earlier Al Mar Warrior. I was a big fan of this knife back in the day. Could be fake, or could be a very early version, or maybe a custom made/modified piece. It doesn't look bad though.

Serrations look all wrong for either REKAT or Al Mar. The AL Mar Warrior had sharp, alternating scallops as did the REKAT versions - unless there were some prototypes with serrations. They were designed for trapping an opponent's arm, not cutting.

Also the grip material looks off. What is it made of?

Thanks Sal

Grip is soft cushioned rubber. Fit, finish (other than electric grinder/dremel sharpen by previous user) seems good. Nice handle fit, etc. I'm still thinking fake/import, but it seems halfway decent. It threw my co-worker off also, and the table he bought it from was covered with high end knives

its a knockoff; i'm almost positive the real versions didn't use a normal screw for a flathead.
