The fixed blade Hobbit Warrior is the most impressive knife in the REKAT line. Why not talk about this knife and its capabilities?

It is one of the most beautiful designs of late and is very effective as a self defense tool. I have one request, is it possible to produce a model that is more streamlined for IWB carry?

I'd like to hear some more about the applications of this knife, its history, design, potential refinements, etc.

The Hobbit Warrior is basicaly a sized down version of the Warror Knife which was designed in 1978 by Randy Wanner and myself. The Warrior was manfactured for Al Mar knives for a while in Tawian. Because this was a hand shake deal between Al and myself everything went south with Al's untimly death. (BTW Al should be listed in the knife people of the century). A number of people expressed a desire for a smaller street version and the Hobbit Warrior was created. That launched REKAT. Then we recived the request to make a folding Hobbit. Bob Brothers and I then created the Rolling Lock( nothing out there as far as locks would allow the knife to be used as designed). The bottom line is the Hobbit Warrior is the granddaddy of REKAT. We do have another version of a guardless Hobbit Warrior but being such a small company we hace to pick and choose what we introduce. Maybe in the near future it will be produced.

That Hobbitt Warrior is one serious fighting knife. I love the design and functionality of it. It's a little pricey for me, but I know sooner or later I'll probably buy one. The main reason I haven't purchased one before now is the very practical reason that I can't easily carry it with me in my normal day to day activities - it just doesn't fit in! On my budget, practical NEED comes before WANT.

I give my much belated Kudos to REKAT for this gorgeous knife!

A guardless Hobbit sounds pretty interesting! Would it have some sort of integral guard? Also, for IWB carry, the butt end of the handle can sometimes be quite uncomfortable. Would you consider smoothing that out in the guardless version? I would buy one in a second!

And thanks for the info Bob.

Hello Bob Taylor,

I'm a serious knife collector, and I had a question regarding the Hobbit Warrior. I was curious about what type of tang dose it have? If I follow the description correctly the skull crusher pommel is aircraft aluminum which suggests it is affixed to the tang, perhaps a rat tail tang with the crusher screwed on. The strongest knife in the world has to be a full tang, and in a combat knife certainly desirable.

One last question, which heat treatment dose the HW-S ATS-32 Satin Silver model have?

Please let me know as I'm interested in adding one to my collection but I want to learn all that I can before purchasing one.

Thanks,
Joseph Richter

Bob Irons,

I have carried a Hobbit Warrior on and off for two years now. The easiest way for me is handle down off hand side to my pistol so I can deploy it with a hand drop to block an attack. I also have a trainer I carry this way as well ( In TN we can carry a baton with certification). I am right handed but practice mainly left handed with a knife so I can leave my Gun hand available for my Commander. I work in an office most days and my sports coat/suit jacket covers the knife well enough. I also carry my pocket hobbit on the same side.

They are both great defensive tools.

Be Safe,

ts

Thanks ts for the carry info.

I may well end up carrying the Hobbit Warrior one of these days. I'm borderline convinced fixed blade is the way to go. I'll probably carry both fixed and folder one day.

I'll have to experiment with efficient carry and deployment. Off hand side sounds good, but I'll have to practice a bit before I'll feel comfortable. Good thing REKAT makes those trainers!

The Hobbit is the epitome of the CQC Reverse Grip Fighter. It is quite simply the most effective edged weapon in that arena. Furthermore, it is not at all lacking in tactical ability in Forward Grip either.

I have never held a knife that instilled more confidence than a REKAT Hobbit. It is so secure and comfortable that it defies description. It is a badmotorscooter. If I knew I had to fight in-tight, CQC, it would be my choice.

My favorite way of carry used to be IWB, but since I have obtained a couple of these JSP/BladeRigger Horizontal Belt Sleeves, this has become my favorite mode of carry, lightning fast draw, to the point, pun intended.

Is anyone familiar with Herbertz's "Mississippi", which (to me) looks just like REKAT's "Hobbit Warrior"? I've been planning to buy it, but I'd like to know more about it.

Looking for Bob Taylor. Have you gotten the post above? I'm still interested in knowing more info about the Hobbit Warrior. Sorry for the repeat, but I would like to know.
