I don't know exactly how jewelling is done, nor do I know what equipment is needed. Can it be done by hand, and what tools would be needed? Am I being unrealistic? Could a machine shop jewell a blade?

See? I'm not even sure what questions to ask. Hopefully, one of you guys can educate me.

Thanks,

Dave

You can do it as simple as, a round eraser chucked in the drill press, and valve grinding compound on the blade.
You bring the chuck down and press it into the blade, release, move half the diameter of the first impression, and repeat. Do that several hundred times, depending on blade size and you have jewelling.

You can substitute a cratex rod for the eraser.

Brownells also sells kits for doing it, including a jig.
