Hoe long will it take ?

Hi all,

I recently bought a Lansky Arkansas System.
I really like it, it's quite usable for smaller knives.

Now, I already knew that arkansas sharpening stones are one of the less agrassive stones, so sharpening may take some longer.

But this is insane, it looks likes I need 2000 swipes over the blade on each side, with each stone.

Does it always takes so much time to sharpen a knive?

And how much pressure must I provide?

Thank you all.

Are you reprofiling to a lower angle? Arkansas stones can be painfully slow for reprofiling even on easy to grind steel. If I was you I would pick up a coarse grit diamond stone for the Lanksy and only use the Arkansas stone for finishing.

Yes! I am reprofiling the blade to a 25 angle. Thanks for the tip, I will order a lower grit diamond stone soon.

Took me an age, but were getting there
