I saw a emerson commander at a garage sale recently and they only wanted 15 bucks for it.(they obviously didnt know) ANYWAY, IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS BEEN DROPED ON THE BLADE 1 OR 2 TIMES AND NEEDS TO BE RESHARPENED. CRAP MY CAPS LOCK IS ON. How do i go about sharpening a commander model and what tools would be the best to use. I apparently do not know how to spell either.

Thanks

try looking at emersons website. he has lots of instructions on how to sharpen the unique edge his knives have. might need ceramic rod or a diamond hone, depends how bad the blades dinged up. and by the way, what exactly do you mean by" being dropped on the blade one or two times"

It looks like the knife was droped and it hit a hard surface on the part of the blade where it curves back up to the tip( the lowest part in the curve) it say that because the knive is not butter knife dull but the edge is slightly bent at that point.

i'd call emerson knives and tell them the problem. ive talked to them many times and they were always courteous and helpful. the last time i called i talked to the guy for 45 minutes about electric guitars, knives, handguns, and the diference between california and tennessee weapon laws. easy people to talk to. i still think your knife is servicable but i havent seen it yet. you have to work pretty hard to hurt an eki but it happens . let me know

a round diamond rod works best on the commander because of the shape of the blade, a flat stone will work but not as well imho.

SO i went out to the local sporting goods store today to find somethign to sharpen this with (the old fashion way according to Ernie)and i could not find anything that did not require a PH. D to assemble and use or anything that looked like it would not crumble into pieces while i was using it except for a Gatco Triceps. SO i got it, i figure i can use it for the serrations at the least. SO i am am going to agree with SIFU1A that the best thing to remove this dent in the edge would be a round rod, but where can i find a good quality diamond rod?
