I was extremely fortunate to get in on the first run of Hoffman Carving axes, it was a long highly anticiped wait but I am extremely happy with the finished product. The axe weighs around 750 grams and the cutting edge is a whisker under 4.5 inches with a 30 degree symmetrical scandi grind. This is my first real experience with a carving hatchet, and have no points of reference for comparison. The axe is light and nimble and feels great in hand, the is effective carving tool that holds its edge and can quickly be brought back to scary sharp with a light stropping. When my excitement wears off I will take the time to write a critical review, but that may take a while. Included comparison pictures with a GB wildlife hatchet and Fiskars X7.
And yes those are flip flops, I took these pictures about 15 seconds after I receive the axe in the mail.
