My brother, a newby at this, tells me he has purchased a Hoffman-Richter knife. I had never heard of this particular make, but in looking it up, I find these on sale at some web sites, and they appear to be Chinese made. I find it hard to believe that something so named would have originated in China, so I would like to know if there were a history to this make. Any info on this would be appreciated.

I kept seeing Hoffman-Richter "sponsored" listings on Amazon while I was looking for other knives.

Finally I thought, "what the hell?" and ordered one - the HR-30 Tactical Folding Knife. It's indeed a Chinese made knife.

The knife is comparable to other low priced Chinese knives I've bought in the past. It seems like you really get a lot for your money but they are overall disappointments if you like quality knives.

The build is solid and the asssisted flipper opens the knife with authority. The materials look and feel decent but the knife has a lot of material and tolerance shortcomings.

I put mine back in the box and I'll give it away to one of my friends who will appreciate getting a knife as a gift but won't be a discriminating owner.

Anyway, these are comparable to Ganzo, Firebird, Santenmu, and Bryd.

Much better than Tac-Force, MTech, Snake Eye, and the other kind of garbage "brands".
