If you want I will take some pics but anyway

I have a old hoffritz butterfly knife my dad bought back in the late 80s early 90s when he worked at the world trade center he said there was a hoffritz shop and everytime he walked by he saw the knife it's made of 440 stainless and has japan stamped in it. It's in great shape just needs a light cleaning

now is this a rare or valuable knife because all I can find from hoffritz is kitchen wares

Hoffritz generally used quality contractors and offered extensive lines of hunting and posketknives over the years. I have a 1980's era catalog and I'll check it when I get a chance and see if has any balisongs.

I used to pass a Hoffritz in Penn Station in NYC and they always had knives for sale. I got my first Spyderco there, a Pro-Venator (name later changed to Pro-Hunter, I think).

all i know is that when he got it he said he spent all of his free time mastering how to open it crazy fast

hes the reason i love knives. gave me a bowie knife when i was a kid and said i had to wait till i was older to use it. gave me my first SAK and then gave me his 30 year old buck 110 which he recently stole back because its such a beauty

Its kind of a gray area bro. Some would interpret your post as looking for a value, I would interpret it as you seeing if you have a cool or collectable knife. Either way I think there is much more value to you in the fact that it was your dads, and even if it was a Budk butterfly.
I need a gold membership to get info about a knife I don't want to sell?

I've been on these boards since 2008 and not once have I bought or sold anything . This kind of feels like a stab in the back
