Hoffritz SAK

I came across an old SAK style knife in my junk box. It looks like a SAK and has Hoffritz and Camping written on the scales. Unfortunately, the can opener is broken off and the toothpick is missing.

Is this a "real" i.e. wenger or victorinox SAK? The large blade is stamped Switzerland & rostfrei. I did a little searching and hoffritz was apparently a cutlery store, but didn't know if it was quality or not.

I still carry one my mother gave me in about '67 (She got it from the distributor). Mostly expensive kitchen cutlery along the same line as Henckel's or Wusthof. Now called International Cutlery.

All of the Hoffritz SAKs that I've seen and own were made by Victorinox. Victorinox still makes scales that say Camping. Usually they are on the Camper model but I've also seen them on Spartans and Rangers.

As Frank said as far I am aware Hoffritz sold Victorinox SAKs
- with their name added to the regular Victorinox scales.

You already knew to look at the shank/tang of the main blade for either the Victorinox or Wenger name stamped.
If it is a "real" SAK - I'm a bit surprised that the main blade is not stamped as such.

But from your brief description (any chance of a pic?)
it sounds like a Victorinox - perhaps Hoffritz had enough buying power to order Victorinox SAKs without the stamp on the main blade?

Anyway as a guess does the knife look like either of these two models?

This Spartan came in a Victorinox box stamped 1.3601. The tang is marked Hoffritz on one side and
Switzerland
Stainless
Rostfrei
on the other. There is also "Hoffritz" on the shield side scale at the opposite end of the shield.

Couldn't get a clear picture of the tang stamp.

Don't have a pic, but I am almost positive its a Ranger as pictured above. Definately doesn't say victorinox on the blade. stampted on one side with Switzerland, stainless, rostfrei and Hoffritz on the other.

Thanks for the info.
