HOGS---My second Busse might be in the Brown Truck today :), a PD with Blackcoat and Rams Horn handle. I would like to have the knife modded to a Satin blade and Micarta slabs, instead. May I have some input? Thanks. OINK!

Input= Ban!!!

You could email Garth. I'm sure the shop could help you out. Ban is definitely a good option as well.

I do not want to void the Busse warranty. This PD will be a keeper. :D
I want to thank, I'maGatMan for the tip on this knife! Thanks, Broh!
Paging Garth.
Thanks!
GRUNT.

IIRC, the shop doesn't satin coated blades.
PERSONALLY, I'd leave it, that combo looks cool but if you want it that way, I think Ban's your number one bet.

Mr. Clean---So, I would have to strip the blade for the Busse Shop, then would they do a satin?

The shop has taken stripped blades to satin for me. Email Garth, he'll give you the answers better than any of us.

Mymindisamob---Thanks! I will contact Garth. I know he is a Busy man. Maybe Jerry would do the Mod for me?! :D

You will find that Ban is back logged and swamped with work, but definitely get on the list.

my understanding is that the knife had to be ground( I think I am missing the correct wording here) for it originally before heat treat. Now some blades have been but I think Garth needs to see it first etc:confused:

I dont think the shop grinds much after its been heat treated. Not that they can't but its a chore. Thats what makes Bans, Ducci's Jeremy's, and others job so difficult is that they are working with hardened INFI:eek:

but I would love Jeremy , Ban, Ducci or one of our knowledgable experts to enlighten us.

Mr. Clean---You jest got learned! :)
I will see what Garth says and go from there.
Heck, this is Busse knife #2! For now, I'll just enjoy the INFI High.

I woud personally leave the scales as is. Do you want the penetrator tip altered? Satin would certainly look good on it though.

Mr. B---No, T will not alter the PT. I would like Garth to put a slight swedge on the whole spine, though. From the rear of the blade to the point. And, Micarta or G-10, is a Must for this Boyee!
Tnx!

I think I fixed it for ya:thumbup:

you dont want me to work on it:D;)

I'd ruin it. LOL

Taking on a pd is a pretty big job! The infi dimples are as big as I have ever seen!! The edge is as fat as a FFBM. To truly satin a pd takes grinding!!!! Not just some scotch brite! My first busse a PD just like yours, was thinned by Ban, It would take a horrible act of abuse and probably a cheater pipe and a vise to bust even a Banned PD! I don't know what kind of use you plan for her but, I openly use my Old Infi knowing the warranty exchange would probably not even be enough for a SFNO,,,,,,,,:eek:!!!!!! Serious mod it, use it, and forget it!! It will be fine! And the Garth is not going to want to grind Infi dimples out of a pd, infi can be ground on to mod, but you must have A lot of time to do so! Keeping the steel cool by using cold water and sharp expensive belts! So wait on Ban or use that butter knife!! Lol :D

Tnx, HK. Would Double-Cut work instead of Satin?
Why are the PD's so pitted?
