Hi folks,

I've emailed a couple of people here and they have been VERY helpful. Thank you once again (you know who you are).

I am a hog in training looking to get my first Busse. I'm stuck. I've mostly deciphered the abbreviated names and figured out what 2 weeks means so I'm well on my way to joining the club.

I'm trying to figure out which blade will be best for a hunting knife. Something around 4.5" with a bit of belly and an uncoated blade.

Get this - and I can't be the only one to have done this - but I've taken photos of knives, printed them out to scale, and cut them out of cardboard to get a "feel" for the design. While my collection of cardboard Busses is impressive they are not INFI!

I think the BOSS St is the best design I've found but getting a satin or double-cut (now I know what that means, too) is tough. So unless someone is willing to part with one, is there another knife model that I've overlooked?

Thanks for your help everyone!

Welcome aboard! I use a meaner street for hunting. The swamprat Vex is also a nice 4" model.

I may be wrong, but I'll bet that if you hang on a bit you will have a chance at a thinner Boss Street. Removing the coating is about a 10 minute project, so don't worry about that.

Almost forgot, the Howling Rat Little Mischief (HRLM) is set to be released by the Swamp soon (yes, 2 weeks). It is a nice 4" hunting blade.

Check the exchange forums, there were some boss protos there. I've seen somebody use a BATAC CG on a deer, and he liked it. Then there is SAR4 it might fit you perfectly. There are a lot of knives to choose from.

Get a BS and Strip IT!!

To me, a perfect hunting knife would be choil free. That's a tough thing to find in the land of Busse. As others have said, though, it's easy enough to pull the coating off a BOSS Street. It's for hunting, not looking pretty, so it doesn't matter if you sand the steel to a nice satin finish after you strip it.

Check out the Active Duty, or Boney Active Duty (BAD)

Also as mentioned above the HRLM (Howling Rat LM ) is a great blade

Badger Attack III (BA3) or Anorexic BA3. Good luck finding one.

This is the CPABA3.

Barring a satin Boss St release- The SAR4 would be a great hunting knife. The Scrapyard Scrapper5 LE is uncoated INFI and would work a-ok. The Scrap Muk would be a great one if INFI is not an essential to you.
