I submit for you approval, The Hognose Stripper. I chose a nearly sterile look, we don't need a bunch of Hognose Strippers running around. If you zoom in on the logo side you can see some grinder marks that I think is actually the EKG record of this beast as Jerry gave it life. I'm going to do a little detail work but I'm really happy how it turned out for my first Busse Stripper.

Really good job on this project! I always thought this knife (sword) had gorgeous curves, perhaps some of the most interesting lines in the Busse stable. Your example is almost too pretty to use. Are you intending on using this gorgeous piece of metal? Also, I wonder if any of these showed up in the summer "Christmas" grab bags.

I think these are sort of on the rare side.

I will use it, this thing is a Beast, I can't imagine hurting it.

How wieldy is it? I know Honor Earth threw one into a tree, but can you see yourself using it for Tactical Gardening?
Throwing it isn't a problem... Not Throwing it can be tricky 🤣 I'm just kidding, it's blade heavy as would be expected but the handle feels great and lets you swing with confidence.
I haven't put it to work yet, I have only cut a few 2-2.5" branches.
Yes, I can see myself using it for Tactical Gardening, I'm just not sure what I will do with the Virgin Boom Parang I just picked up.

Super dope my man. Was there any pitting that gave you trouble anywhere?
No pitting outside what you can see in the photos (I'll take a few closeups) I haven't used any sandpaper, only a few cheap Scotch Brite bits in a Dremel to get the gray (decarb?) Layer off. I don't want to take away the tooling marks by sanding it. You can't really see the zigzag gremlins in the photos unless you zoom in on the logo side. I like them on this blade, kinda like a EKG ... It would be different if it was a BURP or Silent Knight but this is a War Sword and chicks dig scars. 😎

That's badass man.

I was considering this on a couple bigger blades but haven't nutted up for fear (probably baseless) that maybe a lot of the coated ones could be blades that didn't meet the qc check for a comp finish, and they coated them so they still sell. 🤔

I probably just made this theory up in my head. Just crossed my mind as a few of the strippers I've bought had significantly more pitting than any comp finish I've ever received from factory.

If you're looking for comp finish you should buy it. I think they put a lot of extra work into them, they may even blanchard grind (flat grind) the blanks to get the dimples out. The CG blades have more finish work than the BG and the profile that's ground in should be good on any of them but the spine will probably have some rough spots. I'm ok with that, this is a Busse Combat knife not some mirror finished stainless wall hanger.

Yeah.. some of the older ones you aren't going to just find for sale anywhere is all. Especially with a comp finish.. so sometimes your only option is a BG and then strip it. Not too worried about it being a "wall hanger".. just don't want it to look ghetto either lol.
