I posted this over in the gallery but figured I would post it here as well

I have a good friend that has been asking me to make him a custom knife for quite some time, he is not a big outdoor knife user and is fairly well to do. He has a great collection of "Items" around his house so I thought I would surprise him this Christmas with something a little different.

Specs:
Steel: 1/8" 1080
OAL: ?? I would say 7" as a crow files
Blade: 4"
Handle: Hogs "Cutter" Tusk
Bolster/Cap: G10
Pin: 1/4 Mosaic

I don't think he will be carrying it around but it is functional and quite comfortable if you run the Hog tusk point between your ring and pinky finger. I am either making a stand for it or a horizontal Leather sheath.

Thanks for looking, comments welcome

your buddy is a lucky dude, that is a great looking knife my friend! Contoured mosaic pin- first I've seen like that ever!

Thanks for the comments Lorien, jacksterp and Joe.

I was a bit hasty to post, I still need to clean up a few detials. The pin in particular still needs to be cleaned polished. Jack It is a gift.

Must not be that good of a friend Ryan you or you would have used some pattern welded steel for the blade ;), just kidding of course. You did a nice job there my friend and like how you shaped that pin to the contour of the tusk, your friend should be well surprised. Is this a gift?

Very cool Ryan. I have to echo the others and say that the pin and bolster shaped to the natural tusk is what caught my eye first. Nice touch.

You didn't waste any time putting that tusk to use. :) It's a nice piece overall. He should like it.

Haha Mike, I actually have the exact same blade finished up in Your 136 Damascus. I almost used it but was worried since I had never used Hog tusk before. I will try to do something nice with it! Yes it is a gift, He is one of those friends that is always there good or bad!

I doubt he gets anything cooler for Christmas - nice work.

That little knife looks great and is full of fun and interest.

Way cool. Great gift!

Thank you for your comments, they mean a lot! I had fun with this one.

Thanks Willows... Weird is good sometimes.
Jason and Todd have to give to receive. :p I am guessing I would come out on the better end of both those deals!

I made up another one with some of Mike Turners Damascus. The new hogs tusk had seen a lot more action when attached to the Hog.
