Dunner's not gonna make this'n; he's got *other* plans... :D

Looks like the Silver Star contingent will miss out. We have three days of First Aid staffing we need to provide for the Wine and Jazz Festival that same weekend. Someday I'll make it.

This is the official date now? I have had the previous weekend off for a number of months now...hope I can change it ;)

I'll find out tomorrow...

River,
I'll be there for the Mischief. Got a new flavor of fermented Agave I'm gonna bring up too.

Oh, if you are thinking of going here this Sunday, I'm up for it.

Maghwi,

Yup; out in that area this Sunday - Noon at the EOC...!

--------------------------------------------------------------

Mischief Details:
The Great NW Mischief will again be above the gravel pit off the 6701 Rd.
45* 56.351 N, 121* 51.967 W, WGS 84

From SR 14 (approx Milepost 47) follow Wind River Hwy (30 Rd) north and continue north through Carson.

Right before Milepost 6 on the Wind River Hwy, you will see a sign directing you to "Panther Creek." Take a right onto this road and then an immediate left onto Panther Creek Road (65 Rd).

Follow the 65 road, through “4 Corners” at about Milepost 10. Stay on the 65 Rd north, until Milepost 12, where the pavement ends and the 67 Rd splits off to the left (west). Follow the 67 Rd about a mile and turn right on the 6701 Rd. Less than a mile up the 6701, a gravel pit will be on the left, as you go past it, and up around a corner to the left is a spur road to the left. This is a fairly rough road that will quickly take you to where the NW Mischief will be based.

From the north, take Hwy 12 either east off I-5, or west out of Yakima, to Randle.

From Randle, dump down the 25 Rd., past Mount St. Helens, to the 90 Rd.
Take a left on the 90 Rd. (east), to Curly Creek Rd. (I think its the 51 or 52 Rd.),
Take that right hand turn, and go up the hill to the 30 Rd. (Wind River Hwy).
Go north (left) on the 30 Rd. to Rush Creek Rd. (6507 Rd.) on the right.
Follow the 6507 Rd. up to Panther Creek Rd. (65 Rd.), take a right (south) and go about 6 miles to the 67 Rd.

Other than food and drink, I'd recommend lawn chairs, and a helmet or hardhat for the cave (& lots of lights)…

Meet at the EOC, Noon on Saturday, Aug. 23rd, for a convoy...

Ham radio: 146.58
FRS: Channel 4
No cell service
No water (bring plenty)
Nearest bathroom about 8 miles
No electricity
Not even adult supervision...

Last year's:

Update: For those of you who have been to the Mischief camping area, I daresay you'll
understand the significance of this pic... :D

River-8 and I have lugged gear up "that trail" to the Mischief site for the last time. :D

It's taken from my cell phone, so the video quality...isn't.

It took us the better part of 4 hours to find the route. Lots of trial and error and backtracking. And of course the obvious looking way...isn't. River-8, his nephew, and I found that out while going up and down "that trail" at least 8 times.

I think 4WD is mandatory for this route, and there are some tight spots.

All the roads had tree falls or debris blocking them. Nothing our hogs and rats couldn't handle. No pics of that tho, as the focus was on getting to the top.

Did I mention that we almost died?!?

It's hard to tell in the crappy video, but for a few moments while River-8 was backing up to turn around, there was nothing below my feet but air and pain.
If you've never gone tailgate ridin', remember to keep your feet up and yer head down. Nothing's worse than getting them caught on a snag and tumbling off the back 6-million-dollar-man-style.

Very cool!

That'll really help when it comes time to lug Dirtlings 15' trebuchet up the hill.

pencil me in, lot's of changes at work right now so i'm going to have to be a tentative yes. fermented agave does sound tempting as well, but the last time i drank bootleg tequila (circa 1981) it wasn't pretty. fortunately i'm older and wiser now. well, definitely older...

There is a sticky on the Wilderness Survival forum about up coming gatherings. Do not know if you are interested in announcing Rat Msichief over there but I thought I would bring it to your attention.

Met with River-8 on Saturday 7/26/08 and headed to the "scene-of-the-crime." :D I am looking forward to the Mischeif (this will be my first year) and it sounds like it will be alot of fun! Here is a shot from the camp area, also you will notice my INFI envy.....

Thanks to River-8 for a great Saturday afternoon, and I am looking forward to meeting everyone! :)

Getting closer now and as busy as the day job has been, I am looking to do some heavy chopping :) Helps burn off some of the stress!
