Yes, I still have it on the brain. There are 46 here @ this moment not including sales thread and rest of BF:cool::thumbup:

So, whats your best tip to a 1st timer to Blade?

Well, I will start with.....

Bring your own Booze:cool: The bar in the Pit is crowded and expensive. You will miss all the fun if your at the bar.

Bring a cooler with wheels:thumbup: THat way you can put your knives in it at the show:D Roll it to your room at end of day, and fill it with ice, bevs, and "whatevers" to bring to the fountain.

We drink a lot so if you bring extra water you might be able to trade for a real drink! Key word is might:D

Bring extra cigs with you if you smoke...they are expensive too!

I take it you're driving down? :D

Only 3 THINGS free at the Waverly... Air, water, and ice. Bring lots of cash, 'cause everything else costs large.

Oh... Bring band-aids!

For those who will be flying in and want to bring a few knives... If you don't want to risk carrying them in your checked luggage, the Renassance Waverly will accept packages up to a week in advance for you. As of last year, this info was accurate...

Send it addressed to:
Yourself
C/O
The Renaissance Waverly Hotel
2450 Galleria Parkway
Atlanta, Georgia 30339

Also, and you might want to do this first to be sure that this info is still accurate... Call the hotel at 770-953-4500 to check, and to give them a heads-up on expecting an incoming package for you.

I recommend shipping insured and with Sig Confirmation, regardless of which carrier you prefer.

You can then ship them back out to your home from the hotel business center located between the lobby of the hotel and the convention center via DHL (IIRC), UPS, & FedEx. Call the hotel for business center hours, and if you wait until Monday to ship 'em out, get there early. It gets busy in there. :)

Work is really starting to interfere with my fun! :(

Can you BYOB to the blade show? Do they let you bring a cooler in? Or are you just talking about smuggling in a flask?

Just curious... Thx

I'm talking bringing something bigger than the normal carry on:)

But I go HOG WILD:D

I just got a nice hard super cool that is rated for like 5 days cold rating:cool:

Its a medium size suit case but it also double as a seat cause its a DIE Hard one from COSTCO with HD wheels etc.

He's talking about after hours. I don't think that they encourage drinking on the floor during the Show, but I imagine that you could easily carry a flask in there. LEO's do patrol, however...uniformed & plain-clothes, so if not allowed, one would have to be cautious.

Can you bring a backpack into the show?

**I know not as good as a cooler, but might have to do. Gotta have some place to put the knives

So long as the rules haven't changed from last year...Yes.

Ya'll better take LOTS OF PICS for those of us that are 4,000 miles away :grumpy:

And have fun. Make the best of it and be sure to meet lots of people!

It's so crowded on the Show floor that it's better to go late in the day, when most folk have left.

If you see a knife you want, pick it up, don't put it down, pay for it and put it in your bag/pack.

Don't be shy to handle the knives but ask first. I've never been turned down but it is polite to ask first.

Don't try to sell your knives in front of someone else's booth, or table. Bad form and it can get you into a little trouble from show organizers.

Have fun, it is a large show don't feel like you have to see everything in one day, spend the weekend

:D:D

While waiting for the doors to open, review the list of exhibitors and mark the ones you want to check out on the table layout provided. If you rely on wandering around at random you will miss some that you wanted to see.

Oh, and it's a little known but strictly enforced Busse policy that the center front spot at the Busse table is reserved for 63 years and older, 6'7" and taller bearded guys.

And Resinguy is correct. See the rest of the show most of the day, as all of the action at the Busse booths happens
after 5 pm.

Have fun!

.

1) Stay at the back of the crowd at any knifemakers table (especially the Busse tables) as it can be very dangerous at the front!

2) Never drink along, always buy drinks for those around you so you will have company.

3) Never pay more than $75 for any knife, that way you can buy lots of knives, not just one expensive knife! Besides, no knife is worth more than $75.

4) When you enter the show, go to the tables/booths on the right side, that is where the best knives are.

.:D
