Anders recently shared this new piece out of his shop and I received his permission to post this one. This is his first serrated dagger and his first mammoth tooth handle. He said he has had the idea of this dagger for some time and when this unusual colored mammoth tooth showed up, he knew what he wanted to do with it. The blade is 12-inches of Anders' tight-twisted damascus serrated on both sides. Antiqued and textured copper fittings.

The pictures tell the rest of the story:

I wouldnt want that pushed into, or taken out of me....very interesting guard....you see many like that, abeit the other way around, on fenching swords.

Interesting. I'm not crazy about the serrations, but I respect the vision and the talent. As a personal preference, I don't care for mammoth tooth as a handle material. I do love the fittings - great treatment and nice results.

one word...YIKES! i'm with Joss on the mammoth tooth...great overall appeal and texture for sure, and very effective and nice attempt on originality. thanks for the pics.

As a unique piece of work the idea is awesome! Hand filing all the serrations on random angles and depths must have taken a while (the best blades I'm told have hard work and dedication etched, ground, beaten and polished into their surface)
Whoever made this blade is an artist with that special inner vision that lets you 'see' into steel and liberate the beauty within it. Not always easy.

I will have to agree with you guys about the mammoth tooth and serrations, but unique and very nice damascus pattern.

Far out, I've never seen anything like this before. Not really my cup of tea but I can appreciate the thought and effort that went into making it. Beautiful materials...

...but I respect the vision and the talent.

Several months ago there was a thread on this forum discussing makers and collectors pushing for diversity, variety, innovation, complexity of execution, etc. Anders has gone outside of his comfort zone with this piece and got a great result. I commend him for that.
Appreciate the comments.
