hogue/Elishewitz EX01

I think everyone that has had one for a few months has been very happy with them. I have not heard anything bad from the owners. They are some super nice looking folders in both 3.5" and 4" blade drop point and tanto versions.

Im grabbin one. Im looking for a tough BIG EDC. How does it open? Smooth? did you get the aluminum or g-10? Im getting the aluminum. I cant think about g-10 liners. that freaks me out, although i know it shouldnt.

Opens smooth, lock is pretty strong, the G-10 models have inner steel bolsters.

I've got the g10 4" drop point and it is an excellent and well made folder. Extremely stout lock up and very smooth to open with a classically styled blade as well. keepem sharp

I have an aluminum handled one with 3.5" blade & a G-Mascus (G-10) model with 4" blade (Both are drop-points). I'm having a tough time deciding on which one I prefer.

They are very well made, smooth, & the lock's seem to be very strong.

If the OP did order/get one, I do not think he'll be disappointed.

I ordered g10 model should be here soon , I will post photos then I get it.

Awesome knife. You will not be disappointed. I bought one with aluminum handles and it has great traction.

i was at a custom knife store in the city, i saw a bunch of them, & at first just ignored them, because i thought they were autos & were 500.00+.i later checked them out & couldnt believe the quality for under 200.00, & found out they were manual, too.theres a few videos by elishewitz on youtube about them. the lockbar & pivot are heat treated,& the quality is like a custom.comes in 3.5 & 4" versions, with black or green g10 or aluminum.the store only had the 3.5 ones,so i too ordered a 4" version, should be here tues.its the best thing ive seen in a while....

Here is Allen showing the inner workings of the ex01.

Once broken in, the knife operates extremely smooth. Dead centered when closed, when open, has zero side to side movement which is incredible for how smooth it opens.

To close the knife, you really have to depress the button deep into the handle, only then will the blade release. Plus, you can set the safety for added security.

One note too: You can actually pre-load the safety. It will ride in that position (1/2 locked) until you open the knife, and it will lock automatically. Not sure if it was designed this way, but sure is a nice feature to have.

As others have mentioned, the F&F is incredible. One of the nicest production folders I`ve seen. Mine, the G-mascus version has a very slight recurve to the blade. It also comes with a polished edge from the factory.

Neither. In fact it has no washers at all. The liners are machined in that they actually look like washers, but are all one piece of steel per side. Very smooth operation!

I don't know if this is typical of Elishewitz's knives, but I had a custom Cortex that didn't have washers either. I believe it's about 10 yrs old & had no blade play (Probably still doesn't).

Also, I recall reading someone commenting about the button lock maybe developing blade-play. Maybe on others, but I think these are different. The part of the blade that contacts the button lock is sloped, like a frame/liner lock's blade tang. Plus the fact that the contact points are hardened & you have a knife that should hold up very well.
