Hogue EX-01 edge maintenance?

I recently bought a Hogue EX-01 and I really like this knife. It came with an amazing edge - almost too good, because now I want to maintain the edge at an optimum level. The edge came polished and now its showing some signs of use. What to do?

I've never polished an edge before. Should I put in the effort to keep it polished?
OR, in your experience, can similar performance be obtained from a well done, but not polished edge? Is polishing the edge worth it?

STOP USING IT NOW!!! and leave that edge alone otherwise it will get more scratches and you'll get worried that nice polish goes away. But honestly, from experience, you can get that polish back very easily with their 154cm, I remember using a 1k whetstone and it polished up pretty nice.
