Well title says it all, I know this is subjective, but interested in seeing what you would chose if you had $150 to spend on a new knife.

For those who have handled both, which did you prefer, and which is the more capable slicer.

BTW: I am looking at the smaller Ex-01 drop point with aluminum handles.
 
I have both, and love them both. I struggle everyday trying to decide which one to carry. You are right, the Mini Sere is a ver proven knife. Pretty highly regarded, fit and finish is great, and most importantly a great slicer. Super sharp, I really like the clip and the knife is completely concealed in pocket.
The Hogue is so well made, construction is as close to custom as you can get. Very tight tolerances. If you watch the video's on Utube you find that it is very heavy duty, the lock is indestructable in all practical knife uses. Again like the Mini the Hogue is very sharp, probably however the mini is a better slicer because of the blade profile, and the slimmer stock. If you want a bruiser knife that is light yet super strong go Hogue. If you are wanting to go concealed and do lotsa cuttin go Mini Sere, really either you can't be disappointed with, good luck with your decision.
 
I've handled both but only purchased the Hogue in Gmascus. While it is a little top heavy, it's a great slicer and very comfortable in my hand. You can't go wrong with the Hogue!
 
I like the looks of the gmascus, I have heard that the alimunum handle models have a better balance to them. Any comments on this from folks who have handled both?
 
the SERE is a great knife from what i have heard but i am far more interested in the hogue. the sere handle to blade ratio isn't my favorite... you don't see many al mar products on here same with lone wolf even though i heard they are very good also
 
Have both in lg size(G-mascus Hogue). Better ergos on Hogue handle. SERE is very good, nonetheless.
