COnsidering a Hogue ex-01. Question for you hard use guys...aluminum or Gmascus scales and your opinion please. I read online someone said Aluminum will hold up better but it appears the grip would not be as solid to me. Thank you for helping out with your experience. A photo wouldn't hurt either.

Gmascus, all the way. I've handled both, and use both quite extensively, and Gmascus. You will need to take some 600gt wet/dry sandpaper and knock down the sharp edges. Its a byproduct of the manufacturing process, and not much of a bother for most "daily" use, but for prolonged, and extensive use, you're gonna wanna take those edges away, that's the only complaint that I have.

WOW! Thanks Moosez45, thats what I needed to see. I was reading the review on Edge observer and a poster commented that he felt like the aluminum was a more solid set up because of fewer parts. Maybe the Aluminum scales dont use the steel insert the gmascus has inside the scales. However, IF...that theory is correct..maybe the Gmascus with steel pin rolling inside steel plate could offer more longevity than steel pin rolling against aluminum scale. All guess work on my part as I have not seen the inside of the aluminum scales...maybe they do have a steel plate/insert in the grips.
