Anyone have the new Hogue EX-01? I just ordered one. Saw several u-tube videos of Allen Elishewitz discussing the incredible tolerences needed to make this baby. Just curious who has one and how you like it. Seems like a super nice knife for a reasonable price, thanks, jeff.

I have a 3.5" Drop Point with G10 scales and I have a 4"/G10 on order. It is an excellent knife especially the button lock. My hands have big palms and short fingers so the handle of the 3.5 is a little awkward to grip with my right thumb on the spine jimping which is my preferred grip. I'm hoping to have better luck with the 4".

I've owned 6 Elishewitz customs and the portion of the knife including the blade and lock is as first rate as any of the customs, but the price of an EX01 is a mere fraction of the price of the customs. Recommended!

Thanks guys, can't wait. It is on backorder but hopefully will be back in stock at end of the month according to dealer.

Also intrigued by this knife. Quite a cool design and good press about it. statmonster, do you happen to have any pics of it that show its width, or it beside some better known knives? Just curious how wide the button lock makes it and so on.

For the sake of comparison, here's the EX01 next to my EDC's of similar size.

I think im going to pick one of these up, thanks to this thread and others like it. :D

As im looking around at different online shops, I found one that offered aluminum handles, but they didnt have slits. Im guessing those were first production? Is there any pros to picking up one of these? Thanks in advance for any info!

One other question. The Green handle. Is it actually green? It looks like a off gold to me. Anyone have personal pics of one?

Jim O'Young is involved with these. Some may remember his other knife company, Speedtech, which made some fantastic pieces.

The Green Anodized Aluminum is a very nice OD Green in person. I have one and I love it.

I just got a 4" DP in green G-Mascus. A few observations:
FandF are excellent.
Edge geometry is very good, and quite sharp, slight convexity.
A bit of a blade-heavy feel; balance point is at the pivot.
Very good ergonomics, handle is comfortable in all the standard grips.
Pivot was slightly loose out of the box-easily remedied.

Only gripe: the lanyard pin and slot are too small to fit any decent-size cord through.
Overall: 9.5 out of 10.

A question, if I may: is the clip and lock ambidextrous?

The clip is not ambidextrous, it only works for tip up and down right handed carry.
As far as the lock goes, its possible to use it left handed comfortably but it takes a bit of getting used to. I am fairly proficient at left handed now after trying it for a few mins.

The OD Green aluminum seemed more brown than green to me. In anodizing there are color variances from batch to batch, so I can't say that all aluminum handles will be brownish but the one I received was. I didn't care for it so I sent it back and exchanged it for gmascus, which is awesome!

I wonder who is actually making the knives? Hogue probably wasn't set up for knifemaking, given that their signature product is rubber handgun grips.
