It wasn’t my intention to contribute to the Emerson war going on in another thread right now ;). But I do have a serious question. If you could choose between a Hogue EX01 and an Emerson CQC 15, what would you choose? The build quality part of my brain says Hogue, but the coolness part also says Emerson.

They are both around $180 (so I have to choose :( ) and have strong 4" blades.

For your entertainment the Emerson CQC 15:

And the Hogue EX01:

imo, Hogue by a mile. Only thing I don't like about it is the blade heavy feel, but the cryo treatment, button lock, F&F, and the vastly superior aesthetics put it way ahead in my mind.

Yep have owned both and without a doubt the Hogue. EXTREMELY well made folder. keepem sharp

I'll third the Hogue. Emersons are overpriced for what they are, imo. They are really $100 knives when you compare them with other similar constructed products like zt0200 and Spyderco Para2, etc. Hogue are a much better made knife than Emerson and are cheaper. Also I feel the Hogue gives up nothing to the Emerson line in toughness, actually they probably surpass it.

Hogue. I have the 4" blade with aluminum handle. Kicked a few higher end knives out of my pocket. This thing is amazing!

I have over 200 knives. Only one being an Emerson. Just got my first Hogue and love it!! Will end up owning more than one Hogue!
