I've been looking at both the EX01 and EX03 drop point 3.5". It looks to me like the only difference between the two is the grips. 01 has G-mascus G-10, and the 03 the "polymer" grips at a savings of around $20.

Does anyone have the EX03, and can you give me your impressions of the polymer grips? I tend the favor the looks of the polymer grips, but if spending another $20 is worth it, I don't have a problem doing that.

Get the EX01 with the aluminum handle. Knife seems to have the best function of all models. Opens with a really cool sound and is the best looking of the group. Feels very good in hand tooImageUploadedByTapatalk1389273064.435112.jpg

I own several Hogue EX03's - first of all - go with the brown color unless you like a grayish black coloring. The brown's color is far nicer.

Secondly - find a good deal - I picked up all of my Hogue EX03's 3.5" (the 4" versions both drop point and tanto are huge) for $70 each.

The drop point and the tanto are very nice - the finish on the blade (a tumbled finish is stunning) The grip is excellent on the EX03 - I like it because it is a little lighter and the lack of the awful looking G-mascus (YMMV)

You are unlikely to be disappointed - (I picked up the Hogue ex04 and did not care for it at all in any styling - the grip and blade finish was rough/easily scratched etc...) Whereas the Hogue EX03 is perfection. Hoping that with the new Hogue EX05 being announced at the 2014 SHOT SHOW this week (and ideally in production by the blade show 2014) the prices on the EX03 will drop and I can pick up another drop point version.

Anyone know if the Hogue EX01 Tanto (large) Aluminum is blade heavy? I really like the look of the knife, but I've never held one. Thanks.
