I just received an EX-01 today as part of a trade, and I have to say I am extremely impressed with the build quality of this knife. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be so well made, but I would have been happy with this one even if I had paid $300.00 for it.Aside from the incredibly solid feel, it has one of the best stone washed finishes of any of my knives, and coming with a polished edge from the factory really adds to the flavor. I got the 3.5 inch version and it is a gem, I am loving this one. Welp, just had to share that with you all, happy holidays everybody!

I've only heard good thing's about them so far.

Maybe at some point I'll be able to get one. I've been eyeing the 4" version.

What do you think of the locking mechanism? Looks pretty solid from the video's and pic's but haven't had a chance to try / inspect myself.

I haven't put it to any hard use yet,but it seems pretty stout, and the security button only adds to that. I love the sound it makes when it locks into place as well.

Yeah, it looks pretty sound but nothing like having it in hand to get an idea.

Enjoy and thanks for sharing!

Gush, this is just perfect!

I have the gmascus 4" drop point and it is the smoothest opening knife I have. The fit and finish is great and I really like the button lock and handle shape. Some people complain about the knife being blade heavy, but It doesn't bother me at all. Hogue makes a really high quality knife and I like Allen Elishewitz designs.

I think for the quality, Hogue knives are very reasonably priced and from all account users love them.

The Hogue I had was just like that, but with black handles. I've never owned a knife so well made as that Hogue, not by a long shot.

Great knife. I have been wanting to pick one up but still on the fence about it. From what I have heard/seen, the quality is up there with the rest. I am a little curious on the button lock. I might have to bump it up on my list...

I have two of them, and love them both. They are great knives, and deploy super fast. The push button lock allows deployment as fast as an automatic, and also one-handed closing.

One of my favorite things about the EX-01 is how the design somehow permits (essentially) zero blade play. My least favorite thing though probably is how blade-heavy and unbalanced it is, (at least in the 3.5" G10 version.) Aesthetically, it reminds me of Alien for some reason...

Allen himself has some videos on youtube in which he tests the lock strength.
The results are fairly impressive I'd say.

Okay, okay! You guys win. I just ordered a 4" Green G-Mascus, which required emptying my Paypal account. Hope you guys are happy.

How does the Gmascus compare with the aluminium handles? Thinking about strength etc, as it looks like the Gmascus ones have no liners.
