Wife got me this one as an early Xmas gift. It's our first non-Benchmade in a LONG time here.

I've been using Hogue products for over 10yrs on my firearms, and was hesitant about their knives, but all reviews we found on Youtube, etc were very positive.

So here it is! 4-inch drop point version, plain edge. This one has the Gmascus handles. Fit and finish is near perfect, and all screws/anchor points have steel or brass inserts so nothing threads directly into the Gmascus material. Lockup is solid with no blade play in any direction, even under pretty hard pressure. Button lock has a safety that works very well too. The edge out of the box is excellent, and polished, with no machine/tool marks. Shaving sharp. Steel is 154CM and has held the edge after whittling branches to start a fire and a myriad of other camp tasks during a short outing yesterday.

Only minor complaint is the Gmascus models do have a blade heavy feel, due to the extreme light weight of the handle material. They do offer aluminum handle models and I may pick one of them up in the coming year to compare.

You don't hear too much about these knives and just figured I'd share my experience with it thus far....

My friend just picked one of these up on a trade and he loves the knife! Enjoy the knife and you got a good wife :)

I just bought a 4" aluminum handle version from the Popular Internet Auction Site. It's beautiful. I love the look, the button lock seems extremely solid and the fit-and-finish quality is excellent. My only criticism is the same as the OP's: it's blade-heavy. Not so much as to be a bother, but you do definitely feel it.

I bought a 4" tanto aluminum then I liked it so much when I saw another for a good price, I decided to grab another - a 4" drop point in aluminum. Got both for $135 + shipping each, which I think is a steal for the quality of these knives. It's definitely one of the most fun to play with as well, similar to the Axis lock.

I personally got the aluminum versions because they're supposed to be stronger(not that it matters, both G10 and AL are strong) and I knew the G10 versions would be more blade heavy than the AL versions. The balance of the AL versions is actually pretty decent.

I can't help but think if the EX01 had Microtech written on the side it'd easily be $250+. It reminds me of the ZT 0200 in terms of it's high value.

The aluminum does not feel as blade heavy IMO as the gmascus....still a little bit, but not bad. I sold the 3.5" and got the 4" which I prefer. I just love the blade shape; the perfect shape and profile for me.

Nice knife....great wife!

It's a tank of a knife. Just screams at you "USE ME!!".

My only negative about it is the detent is a bit light for my taste. But I little tightening of the screw made it a bit more secure and still open with out much effort.

There isn't a lot of talk about it lately, but when it first came out there was a lot of discussion.
I've never seen any negative feedback. Only dicussions about weight and Gmascus vs. Aluminium.
