Hey guys, I was looking at picking up an EX-01 4" tanto, and I was curious of their warranty. I heard that the locks do in fact wear somewhat like a liner-lock, and was curious if they'll replace it(free or for a fee) upon being "wore-out". Also, does disassembling the knife void the warranty? One of my devlish habits with knives is breaking them down to figure out how they work, so I'm hoping it'd be fine. ;) Thanks guys!

I owned one for a little bit and I'm not 100% sure but i believe it comes with a paper saying not to disassemble it

You won't wear out the lock before you sharpen away the blade, its designed to seat further and further as it wears, maintaining the tank hatch tight lockup they have.

As far as warranty, I have not used it, but I have met with Hogue several times. They take their knife business very seriously, I doubt you will have any issues should they arrive.

In regards to diassembly, I've taken mine apart several times, there are internal springs behind the button lock. If you diassemble the knife and lose parts, expect to pay for new ones, as that is not a defect of the knife.

My 4" drop is one tough knife, that holds an edge damn near forever. Get one, you will not be disappointed.

I have used Hogue's warranty, not for anything major though. I bent the pocket clip on my EX-01 and called to ask if I could buy a new one - they just sent me one in the mail, free of charge. They were friendly as could be about it, too.

I do think, as Allen R. said, that it comes with a little card warning against disassembling it. The lock and safety have got some of the tiniest EFFing parts I have ever seen, so I wouldn't recommend taking it apart for fear of losing some of the bits.
