Anyone know anything about Hogue Knives? Are they the real deal? Made is America? Looking at their EX-01 folder! Seems badass? Any input here would be great!? Thanks guys!!

I've owned a couple of EX-01s -- one G-10 4" drop-point and one aluminum 4" drop-point. Both were superbly made, and yes, they're produced in the USA. I'm definitely looking forward to their future folder offerings. If you have your eye on one, I'd definitely encourage you to pull the trigger. :)

Got one: Hogue EX-01, green G-mascus, drop point blade. It looks like an auto knife, with the button lock and a secondary lock just behind the button.

Heavy duty, also heavy weight. Massive blade, thick, strong, and sharp. Flick the thumbstud and the blade snaps out. Push the button and turn your wrist, and it snaps back into place.

Easily worth the price.

Cool! Im kind of thinkin the 3.5 model. 4 is a little big for me. Glad they re really made in the us! Im done buying any foreign made knives! We need to support our US knifemakers!

I had a 3.5" model and the handle just seemed too small for me. I don't have huge hands, I wear a medium or a large glove usually. The 4" is great though. And I'll second everything Esav said. Awesome knives, especially for the money.

They also just released auto versions, I've only looked at/held some of their fixed blades which were really well made, and had a mirror polished edge out of the box, best edge I've seen on a production knife.

Good to hear all this info... I could never get myself to look at one too seriously. I guess I have tunnel vision and think that if they make primarily gun accessories (I'm assuming it's the same company), they can't possibly make a good knife. Flawed thinking, obviously. I might have to see if I can sample one sometime soon. They seem to get good reviews.

Think i ll start with the 3.5 and see!? I tend to steer clear of folders larger than that! I would prob just carry a fixed blade at that point! These Hogue sound great though!! And for the money?! And theres a great dealer online who stocks a bunch! Score!!

It's a superbly designed knife. My only complaint is how, at least on the 3.5" G-10 model, the all-G-10 handle is light while the blade is heavy. This reduces overall weight a little bit but it also makes the knife feel unbalanced. Fortunately there's a lot of traction in the handle.

I have the EX-01 in 3.5" with black aluminum handles and a drop point blade. It's one hell of a knife. the 3.5" is just the right size for me...I feel like the 4" would be too much knife for general every-day use. Hope that helps!

I have two 3.5" and they are great. I carry the aluminum handled tanto more than the other one, but that's just my preference.

Bigger handle on the 4 inch? I have huge hands so something like the scales on the ZT 0200 or BM 710 feel good to me.

Easy one handed open and close? Heavy duty in the about the same league as the ZT 0200 or the Emerson CQC13?

Does the handle have a sand paper feeling to it like the trac insert on a Kershaw Blur, or not that super aggressive material?
