So Ive always been a spyderco fan so I am brand new to the axis lock as far as owning one. So I am not quite sure if I have a problem or not. What is happening is when I swing the knife shut every now and then the lock does not fully reset. Then when I wiggle the blade it will click back in place. Since this is a brand new knife I was thinking maybe it just needs to break in or once I take it apart and lube it up it might be better but im not sure so if someone could tell me if this is normal or not that would be great.
Also I can not deploy the blade simply by swinging it while pulling the "able" lock down. which I was pretty sure should be not only be possible but easy. I can swing it downward and deploy it but not outward. so is this all normal and just part of the break in period?

The knife might be just a bit tight or simply needs break in. You can loosen the pivot just a tiny bit to see if it helps. Or you can take it apart and polish carefully the washers a bit. As for opening the blade, I rarely use the method of pulling the axis and swinging. Using the thumbstud is easier and more reliable, at least to me.

Thanks for the response. I think I will try just taking it apart and polishing the guts up. I dont think it is the pivot because it is actually really smooth as is. Thats why im unsure whats going on with it. And I agree I will always prefer the thumb studs for opening I just figured since its supposed to be possible to open with just the axis lock that it not being able to might be another sign of something not working correctly. But since I dont have any benchmades to compare with Im not really sure.

Axis lock folders are not among the easiest to assembly. Watch some youtube videos to make sure to do it in the right way. Don't over-polish the washers or otherwise it can introduce side to side play.

Sweet first knife to experience the lock that is my lock of choice, just behind a fixed blade :). Never experienced a failure to lock when closing on any Benchmade Axis locks.
Before disassembly, clean / blast / lube the action, and adjust the pivot to your liking (Jimmy from BM suggested running new Axis locks dry for a while to help everything bed in; tried it on my second bugout and am pleased with the outcome).
I'd first read the warranty, or call, to make sure disassembly does not void warranty, as, from recall, I think Nick said it voided?
Nick Shabezz does a 2 set review and disassemble on the new Hogue Ritter on utube. Shabezz found a pile of surplus blue looking thread locker on that pivot. I'd put my eyes on each ABLE lock spring (Wolf made omega springs) to make sure they are anchored in their respective holes, and carefully inspect lock bar, lock bar cutouts, plus the lock bar and each spring wrap. Magnification and light are your friends.

Thanks for the help here. Im getting ready to read up on the warranty and see if I can disassemble it or not because now I guess from fidget flipping it the knife is acting as if it has no detent at all. It is def something to do with the lock though. with just the slightest downward momentum the blade flies out. And when I say slight Im serious. I had it deploy just from pulling it out of my pocket tonight at work. But if I hold my thumb on the axis lock I can shake it at hard as I can and the blade stays put. So there is absolutely something going on with the lock. I have contacted hogue already so hopefully I will hear back from them sometime tomorrow.

One of the spring could be broken. You can see if the axis lock rod is tilted towards one side after deployment.
