I recently acquired a special edition EX-02, and it had been the subject of a passaround. While the mechanical parts and handle are all in great shape, the blade is kinda trashed. Does anyone know if they do re-blades or blade reshaping? Or, for that matter, anything about their warranty at all?

I guess it speaks volumes about their knives when one can't find anything about their warranty. Solid lil' feckers.

Call them. I have an ex-02 that was gifted to me that had the clip screw heads stripped. I called them and they worked with me and sent me New screws and spacers. They usually have you send the knife in to them. I just paid shipping. Very understanding customer service.

Sorry aout the stripped screw heads, I tend to try and screw them down as tight as I can so thereis no movement. I also had the same modelas a flipper and did the same thing to the screws. I also called them and they sent the screws, clip, and the spacers, all at no charge. Go to www.hoguegrips.com and then to the knives. You should find warranty info and a number you can call. Good luck.

Btw, I really like the EX-02 as I have no problems with a well made, and correctly made liner lock. Hogue knows how to do it! Chevy, take care of my baby.:(:D

No problem Cutter I wanted to change the clip to tip up carry so needed New screws to do that. Houges CS was great.

I am very curious to know how this goes. Keep me up to date!

UPDATE:

Hogue charges $90 for re-blades. I didn't ask what their sharpening service costs, if indeed it costs anything, but I ended up sending my EX-02 to Big Chris and he did a phenomenal job restoring the tip and reprofiling the blade.

Hogue's customer service seems to be three or fewer people. I'm pretty sure I've gotten one of the same two people every time I've called. They're very courteous and understanding - I lost an aluminum spacer for one of my EX-02's clips (I have three now, the blue EX-02 satin spearpoint, a 3.35" tanto flipper, and a 3.75" tanto flipper. They're currently just about all I carry other than my Gayle Bradley) and, while they sell a pocket clip replacement for twelve bucks, worked with me and are shipping me just the part I needed for free.

So, while they are relatively expensive to get replacement parts through, they are polite and will work with you. Hopefully, the knife side of their business gets bigger - both in product lineup and customer base - because they really do put out some of the highest-quality production knives. My EX-02s legitimately beat out several mid-techs I've handled in build quality and smoothness, and my EX-01 was smoother than most customs I've handled.

Tight tolerances, good designs (Elishewitz, duh), good customer service. Why aren't they bigger? Price? I challenge you to handle a EX-0(X) and, after using it, say that the price is too high.

I second you 100%

I think the one thing that keeps some people away is their choice of steel. I can say from experience that I have no problems paying for their quality with the current 154cm

Honestly, with how I treat these things, I wouldn't want them in anything less impact resistant. I'd love to see them in M390, 110v, S90V, CPM154, or, hey, why not Z-Wear?

I would think something like Cruwear /3v/cpm154 would be great. Like you said, nothing less tough

I contacted them via their website and they never got back to me. I contacted them a couple weeks later (about 2 weeks ago) via Facebook and they had a package out to me that same day.

As for their warranty, they sent me clip screws for the EX02 (which were stripped) at no cost (they even sent me some extras...which is great).

They arrived in 4 business days.

I don't know if this customer service experience translates over to the actual blade (don't see why it shouldn't though), but my experience was great with Hogue.

PS-I have a gripe with the design of their EXF01's sheath. I think it is very "last gen" for a high quality $250 knife (an outstanding blade). I asked in the same Facebook message if they had any compunction to take feedback on their blade designs from users/operators. Their answer was a flat "no." So, if you're looking for a company who is concerned about your feedback, Hogue might not be the place.

Sdjay, I got a very similar impression myself. I think it's side-business-itis. Hogue makes their money mainly through gun grips and accessories - they just happened to contact the right guy to design their knives, and didn't slouch on their tolerances.

I think things are picking up, though. I have been told by someone integral to the process that the EX-05 will be announced at Blade this year.

I can not wait for the 05. From what I've seen, it's going to be sweet.

Aye, judging from the (very rough prototype) pictures on Elishewitz's blog, there is going to be a very brief time from vendor availability to it being in my pocket. I hope they make it a button lock flipper, because the EX-01/03s have fantastic detents and pivot action and aren't even flippers. They just fly open. I kinda miss mine. I guess my 3 EX-02s will have to do for now.

Definitely agree. I want to get one of each model once I can afford to.

Anyone have a link to the prototype EX-05?

I've scoured the interweb and cannot find anything on it.

Thanks in advance.
