Well, I've been especially busy in the last month. I did a small show up here in the Northeast, and got in a number of things pre-Blade Show. Each and every one of these upcoming pieces deserves their own thread, but I don't have the time. So, like a barrage of fireworks as a crescendo, I'll throw them all at you at once! ;) (thumbnails click and link to the large images)

Larry Harley was commissioned by Browning to do his version of the 'Liberty Tree' Bowie. Here's his wonderful version:

Johnny Stout and Joe Mason combined efforts to really make this one jump out at you:

Dusty Moulton *really* knows how to rock our world with a dazzling fighter. Here's something extraordinary:

Larry Mensch won't be held back by convention. He dreamed up this dagger and considered how it might work with the blade and butt end rotating in the stainless shaped handle. It's like nothing you've ever seen and Larry's like no-one you'll ever meet. Both make me smile. (I am planning a dagger with him for the future myself!)

David Broadwell made this one up for a client over in Europe. Heat-colored and textured bronze guard. What a beauty!

Stephen Olszewski is nearly unmatched when it comes to carving and filework. This will drop your drawers if you like fancy!

Ted Moore knows how to combine Mammoth and blued steel to perfection. WOW!

Kelly Carlson combined with Tim George's engraving to create one beautiful 'Egg'.

David Schlueter is reknowned for his lonnnnnnnng swords. This time he shortened up the working edge for the heck of it:

Ron Newton's Bowie knife meets Chris Kravitt's leatherwork in a standoff. They BOTH won!

Lastly, a client had me photograph her 1860's authentic period Bowie. I was told it was worth MUCH more than ANY of the above. It's a beauty!

OK, breath again. It's all over. What a ride!!!

Save your comments on the photos, but the guys would LOVE to hear your comments on their knives. These are the stars in this thread. Hope you don't mind me showing off some good folk's wares.

Lovely stuff, Coop!!

On this one " Ted Moore knows how to combine Mammoth and blued steel to perfection. WOW!"
Is the blade as dark as it appears in the pic?
This is a striking use of colors on this folder. I like it lots.
Course I like ALL of em :)
Tom

How could anyone not like collecting knives?
Just look at these gorgeous pieces of art.
Thanks for the wonderful pics which are so vivid.

WOW! I gotta go change my shorts (and shirt, pants and socks) after viewing all of those! Hard to pick a favorite, but maybe the Newton by a smidge.

Great googly moogly, those are some fine looking knives. Of course I am going to love the Newton, but the Moore folder and Broadwell sub-hilt make my heart pound a little harder as well. In fact, all these knives are exceptional.

Those are all spectacular! I love 'em all, but that Olszewski is just simply breathtaking! WOW! I will admit that my socks have just been knocked off!

Thanks a bunch for the peek Coop! That was a treat! (great pics too! ;))

Best,
Frank

Wow -what spectacular knives!!  That Newton bowie is so pretty it makes me want to cry. That big Broadwell fighter is stunning as well - LOVE the heat-coloured fittings on that knife. Heck, they're all stunning!

Thanks Coop,

Roger

Coop , you must feel like a candy store proprietor. All the kids waiting outside for you to show up, slobering on the windows. Great photos of great knives . You are the man. Thanks, Kevin

Any post that has 'Great Jumpin' Jehesophat' and 'Great Googly Moogly' as responses sure gets MY attention, too...! ;)

Hey guys, sure, I thank you for you comments, but more importantly it's an opportunity for many of these makers to have folks look at their work that may otherwise go unnoticed. All but one I am sure are full-time makers. These guys need the boost as do all knifemakers who try hard.

I'm always ready to help push them up. How many other professional photographers regularly post their work on the forums helping the community? I can count them on my nose.

Does it help me? Of course, I'm not indifferent. But—I'm not SELLING any knives. And I really try to downplay my role. Doing posts like this takes time for me as well. I give back photo advice weekly to others offline. I feel the contribution is well worth my time and helps grow our community and our love of these wonderful objects. I am part-time and put a LOT of time into knives in my off-hours. The internet is a two-dimensional world, and it takes skill to *attempt* to place these knives in your hands without actually being there.

So, I'm answering a question that was never asked, but might have been thought of. Ahhh, the hubris of me to show my OWN work! So what. Good. :)

Differing opinion? I'm open. Talk to me.

Thanks again!

Coop

Coop - carry on posting, I look forward to seeing the pictures - the knives are outstanding and you bring to my attention makers I am unable to see being so far away and without other media. Your Hill Pearces have graced my desktop!

Plus your pictures are outstanding and really show off the knives and the craftmanship therein.

Keep up with the good work - its much appreciated.

Not here. This is a win, win, win situation. It's good for you, good for the makers (exposure) and good for us on the forum (eye candy). Okay, it may be bad for our keyboards, but the more experienced among us already know enough to use a bib to held deal with the drool :D .

In any event, I very much appreciate the opportunity to view your first-rate pics of great custom knives and only wish more people, professional and near-clueless alike, would take the time to do the same.

Cheers,

Roger
