Hold Out III Steel Identification

Just bought a new HOLD OUT III Serrated. Advertised as XHP steel. I seen no markings on the blade indicating neither XHP nor AUS8. Box model number states "11HMS". Number under bar code on box says 705442009194.

How do I know if this is newer steel model or the older AUS8? Thank you.

According to the Cold Steel website, the model number for the XHP version is 11HCMS :

and according to knifecenter 11HMS is the aus8 version:

Also, it appears, based on their "quickflick" video, that the steel is indicated on the side of the blade that says "Cold Steel".

Latest version should have xhp marking on the blade. I suggest returning it and get from reputable dealers. As a practice, always shop using the SKU# instead of the model name. Some seller may say that you didn't check the sku number etc etc.

CTS-XHP version has slighter G-10 pattern.

The catalog numbers or SKUs have a "C" in them, within the last few letters/numerals to show the Carpenter steel in the 2015 models.

Stlll a good idea to check the dealer listings though. There are careless dealers that use old catalog pictures of the previous Aus-8A versions.
