I had a discussion with the warrantee department and we thought it would be good to start telling folks to hold on to any knives that need warrantee work. It is getting close to when we will be tearing down the El Cajon repair shop and setting up the Idaho shop. I know we will loose at least one week, if not two or three during this process.
If you can stand it, please don't send anything in until the end of March. I would hate for someone to send their knife in, only to have it put in a box and shipped up north.
Obviously, if you just have to send one in now, we will do our utmost to get it repaired and back to you ASAP.
Something tells me most of us here have more than one knife so we all have a backup in case our EDC gets broke. :D
On a similar topic, Danny Peretti will be taking over Efren Reyes job in the repair shop. Danny worked along side Efren for several years a while back, plus he has over 30 years service at Buck, so he knows what he is doing.

Would one of the Buck Knives reps be able to update us on when we can send in our warranty service items? Is late March/early April still the timeframe?

Also, will the new address be posted anywhere?

Thanks!

I would be pretty optimistic to believe that we will be up and running anytime in March. The gremmlins are out in force in the warrantee department and the end of April is now looing like a more realistic target.
The address will be:
Buck Knives Inc.
Warrantee department
660 S. Lochsa St.
Post Falls, ID. 83854

Mr. Hauser...I'd like to apologize for sending in a 110 for repairs. I sent it in on March 10 before reading this post. If you can...tell the techs to put my knife on the "back-burner" til they are set up and comfortable. I can certainly wait as long as it takes for the repair. It came from Darryl S in Hudson, Florida. Again...please accept my apologies.

Darryl,
Hey, not a problem whatsoever. :)
I would gladly put your knife on the back burner but it will probably take a month to find your package and another month to find the back burner.
But I do appreciate your understanding and patience.
Welcome to the Forums by the way!

...Thanks for getting back to me Joe. I know how hectic it can be getting setup in a new home...and thanks also for the welcome.

Update:
We have finally managed to work out most of the kinks in the computer system and the new consumer relations clerks are starting to catch on quite well. Currently we can give a status on all knives recieved by April 8th, so we are running about a month behind on entering knives into the system, we call this "dispensation".
Then we are close to another month out on having the work actually done to the knives.
The only caveat to this would be knives that end up being replaced. Those are usually shipped within about a week of dispensation so if your knife was recieved on or around the first week of April and we decided that it needed to be replaced, you should be getting the replacement knife within two weeks.
I hate to think of how long we will be in catch up mode but are doing everything possible to cath up.
I can't apologise enough for the inconvenience this must be causing!

Considering all that has gone on in the industry, your news is very good. I do have a small Taclite that the lock has failed on and when things smooth out , I'll send it in.

Hi Joe,

I'm new here on this forum but since I bought a few nice knives from Buck, I decided to take a look here! Very exciting for me, for in The Netherlands we don't have a knife-culture at all. (sadly enough) A question about the warranty though: On Bucks warranty form is the following stated "Warranty registration on line enters you in a drawing to win prices!"
I searched every corner of the Buck site but can't find were I can register on-line. Could you help me with this one?
Must say I'm very happy with my first Buck knives: The nighthawk (fits in my hand as if it was made for me, needed a little sharpening out of the box though) the alpha hunter folding ATS 34 with rosewood scales (hasn't left my right hip since it is out of the box) and last but not least the 819 signature series which I keep as collecter item. Both knives are really rasor-blade sharp. After tuning a liitle bit up with Buck's three stone sharpenig device the nighthawk also now..........

A Dutch fan

ad58,
Sorry for the late reply, I just got back in the office from a trip. The web site should be functioning ok now. I did hear that the contest does not exist though. Not sure if that was an error or what but reference to that should be removed by now.
I will double check.
By the way, I really think that 819 you got will be a sought after knife as the years go by. We are only making so many a year and it will be something collectors want, just like the Master Series we did a few years back.
Welcome!

Mr. Houser,

I had posted this on another thread, not knowing that you are a member of the Buck Team. Please see below.

I'm a soldier stationed in Afghanistan. I deployed with a Buck Tarani Police knife (BU882) and finding a need to reverse the clip for left side carry. I was unsuccessful in removing the screws using my Torx bit set… none of them fits the screws. My hex set also don’t fit.

Any of you know what is the proper size /type bit to use? Also a source for the tool. I have a Brownell set but none of hte bits fits. I wish Buck would have included a wrench for this function with the knife. (Buck guys/gals... are you monitoring this net?)

I've written Buck, but snail mails will take up to three / four weeks. I've posted on another thread for an e-mail address. Any assist will be greatly appricated.

Just wanted to give an update on the warrantee department. We hired extra help and are now down to under 4 weeks for replaced knives. Knives that need to be repaired are still taking a while longer though. I only have Danny Perreti doing repairs but he is making progress. This is such a specialised position, you need to know all about every knife Buck ever made, I can't just hire somebody off the street to help. At least we are going in the right direction.
Hope this helps,

Mr. Houser,
I am new to collecting knives and I want to collect Buck Knives. I still carry the model 110 that I had in Bosnia.
My question is, do you recommend any books that show different Buck knife models etc?
Thanks
Porky

Dear Larry,
