Mark Zalesky, the editor of Knife Magazine, dropped by the Ka-Bar booth at SMKW a couple of weekends ago and had with him one of perhaps two extant production Kephart knives.... it was an amazing experience to hold and handle this blade..... Full height convex ground, length is just about palm wide, the slight upsweep at the front of the haft keeps the forefinger off the blade.....IMG_4530.jpg

Nice balance and is very comfy in the hand.....

I could not help but put Sixteen next to it for scale

Basics are basics and the human hand changeth not......

I would be plenty ok with this for edc in the woods.......

I get tingles every time I think of handling this one ....
WHOOEE,......

Such a cool piece of history, being able to hold one of those in your hand. Thanks for the pics!

Very cool! things like this really are amazing to me.

It's understated, but you can "just tell" that that thing can do the work. all of it.

Those folk back then really had the everything you need and nothing you don't down on a whole other level that I fear we've forgotten.

Then I'd have to track down someone to mod the grind to a full convex..... its easier to just buy a new knife!

Besides, we lost the 15 and 17... its time for a new Tweener

Sometimes the object of your desires lives up to the hype...... I am reminded of my childhood desire to own an Uzi until, I actually had one in hand....... in this case the eye's desire and the reality were in sync......... The consummate doer designed a great doer's blade....

Exactly why the BK16 is at the top of my wish list.

My BK14 and Machax are great and fit their purpose but the 16 is just a perfect fit for the hand and has the feeling that it wants to go to work.

I feel a strong sense of irony reading this thread when you compare the two knives and the men behind them. We truly have a modern Kephart and his knife in our midst.

Please, please o stray one....... I am extremely pleased to be so compared but, I compare not to Kephart...... I am truly a mere humble student of the Great Kephart........ If my back was in better shape I might feel worthy to carry his pack and clean his fish......

Touching that knife is as close as you can get to time travel at this point. Oh the places my mind would wander while holding that amazing piece of history. Shoot, just a photo of it had my mind dreaming of times past and adventures i will never experience.

Thanks for sharing!
